What is Needed Besides Good Marketing- A Personal Experience

Marketing

Over the last 3 weeks my life has changed a lot.  Besides me loving my family even more I wanted to share with you what I learned.  In the last 3 weeks I have gone to Disney World, the Hospital twice, and my youngest son threw up blood.  I went to the Hospital once to get my Gall bladder removed and once because my oldest son had a seizure.  So I think it is plain to see why I love my family more (especially my wife for getting us all through this), but what I learned is what goes into marketing and things that you can’t put on paper or your website. I think most of us feel that Disney and Hospitals are both big time businesses, but I want to bring light to the efforts each put into customers relations and satisfaction.

Both Hospitals (Yale and St Mary’s) from the moment we stepped into the hospitals made you feel welcome and calm.  The Doctors and Nurses checked in every half and hour to every hour to make sure we were Ok and asked if they could get anything for us.  They were very professional and calm, which made us feel more relaxed and gave us a feeling of trust with what they were telling us.  Before we were released from either one of the Hospitals we were approached by a customer relations person that asked us how we were treated and what we thought of the service.

Disney
These guys know how to do things right.  It is a place that every kid wants to go to (Marketing) and ever parent cringes at the price tag they think it is going to cost (or at least this is what I did).  I don’t think any one walks away disappointed.  It did cost a lot, but it was well worth it.  It is AMAZING how Disney can have so many employees and they are all nice, helpful, and smile all the time.  It is what I have always tried to have my shop be like.  When I got off the plane in Hartford with empty pockets, I was still smiling because it was so worth it.  Basically Disney names it’s price and keeps their customers happy and coming back.

I know that this is the way I would like to grow ABC Marketing.  I want my business to not necessarily be the cheapest, but the best value.  I want people to walk away knowing that you got a great deal and that it was well worth it.  I want it to be an experience that you will want to have again with people that you want to work with again.

Please let me know what you think about any ABC services that you might have had done for you be it website development, SEO, printing, mailing, or graphics.  I would like to know what you thought of the product as well as the service.

Thank you for your help

Using QR Codes to Market Your Business

How nice would it be to get special offers, make purchases, or simply find more information about a product or business by just scanning a barcode with your phone?  With QR codes this is possible. You will find QR codes in magazine advertisements, on billboards, in a businesses window and even on a person’s shirt.   Businesses around the world have been taking advantage of QR codes and their marketing possibilities.

What exactly is a QR code?  QR codes originated in Japan and are very common there but are becoming widely used around the world.  These codes are used to transfer information onto your cell phone.  After a quick scan you will have a new coupon to save you money, or learn details about the business.  Unlike typical barcodes, QR codes store more data and can be scanned by phones instead of scanners made for them.  Anyone who has a smart phone can take advantage of special offers when seeing these codes, or just finding more information about the company or product in a matter of seconds because of this convenient code.

QR barcodes represent an almost unlimited amount of marketing possibility for companies and convenience for consumers.  In South Korea you can use QR codes while shopping in the Subway.  Customers scan virtual products, put them in an online shopping cart, purchase them, and they will be delivered to their house soon after they arrive home.  Uses like this make QR codes extremely exciting and prove that the potential in what they can do for a product or company is immense.

Why would you want to take the time to scan a QR code?  QR codes need to provide incentive to the customer to really be successful.  If no one wants to scan your QR code, it is not going to be a successful marketing campaign.  This is one of the most important things to remember when doing a QR code campaign.  If there is no obvious incentive for the user to scan the code, they most likely will not.  You need to provide a description on what makes your QR code worthwhile.  Often you will see a QR code, and have no idea what it does.  This will usually scare off potential scanners of your code, who could in turn become longtime customers of your business.

QR codes are a great way to help you market a business.  The great thing about QR codes is that it allows you to track data making it easy to see the impact of your codes.  This will help give you ideas on how to improve the current campaign, or if the investment is worth it for you.

With the popularity of smart phones still on the rise it only makes sense to start marketing with QR codes.  Soon the average person is going to have a phone capable of scanning QR codes giving companies an almost limitless amount of customers to market to.  QR codes are improving as phones improve.  It is becoming easier and easier for the average person to scan the code and get the information that comes along with it.  QR codes are becoming a great tool for companies to advertise themselves with, and it does not show any signs of slowing down.
